On Sunday, July 9, 2017, at approximately 12:30 p.m., a two vehicle crash occurred on FM 27 approximately 2 to 3 miles east of Kirvin. Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Troopers responded to the scene.
A 2000 Ford Excursion SUV was traveling east bound. A 2010 Chevrolet Suburban SUV was traveling west bound.

The Ford swerved to its left in an attempt to avoid striking a vehicle in front of it which had slowed to turn off the highway.

The Ford lost control and skidded off the highway to the north. The Chevrolet swerved to its right in an attempt to avoid the Ford. Both vehicles collided in the ditch to the north of the roadway.

The Ford was driven by Stephanie Long, 45, of Teague. There were two passengers in the Ford in addition to the driver. Long and the two passengers were transported to various hospitals due to their injuries.

The Chevrolet was driven by Gesna Davis IV (male), 36, of North Carolina. There were three passengers in the Chevrolet in addition to the driver. Davis and one of his passengers were not transported for medical attention. The other two passengers were transported to the hospital due to their injuries.

This is an active and ongoing investigation. No charges have been filed.
