This year, one school district and two city councils are expected to hold elections on May 6, 2017.

Wortham ISD has two candidates vying for Place #6 on the Board of Trustees:  Russell Black and Michael Gargis.
Running unopposed are Micheal Dunn (Place #5) and incumbent Jeff Jones (Place #7).
City of Teague also has two opposing candidates.  Incumbent Marilyn Michaud will face off against Jack Hansel for Place #5.
Running unopposed are incumbents Ron Rasbeary (Place #2) and Chris Nickleberry (Place #4).
City of Fairfield has contested races for all three positions.
Place #3 will see incumbent David Steward against Kevin Childers and Keith Daniels.
Place #4 has incumbent Landis Bayless against Jason Bosley.
Place #5 will be incumbent Kenny Hughes opposed by William Bill Brown.

Several races had no challengers this year, meaning elections will not need to be held.  They include the following:
Fairfield ISD:  two at-large positions will be filled by incumbents John Fryer and Kevin Benedict.
Teague ISD:  Jason Hullum will fill Place #6.  Three incumbents will renew their terms, including Lovie Whyte (Place #1), Stan Waldrip (Place #3) and Mary Clary-Smith (Place #7).
City of Wortham:  Incumbents Cliff NeSmith and Mindy McGlone will renew their terms, as will Mayor Rodney Price.

The City of Streetman did not have any positions up for election this year.
Dew ISD holds their elections in November.
